One Question with…Tim North, Sales Leader at Okta

“In August 2011, Marc Andreessen published an essay titled “Why Software is Eating the World” in the Wall Street Journal. In his now tech famous writing, Andreessen describes the historic rise, disruption, and exponential impact that software will have in re-shaping modern industry and all future markets. His prophetic and cautionary thesis is blunt: “Software is eating the world.” As we enter 2019, I can’t think of a more accurate or relevant outlook than Andreessen’s 2011 thesis – cloud services, AI/machine learning, blockchain, predictive analytics and IoT/device hypergrowth will continue to play an increasingly critical role in shaping markets, driving innovation channels and solving historically unimaginable problems at an exponential pace. In the enterprise identity and security world that I live and advise day-to-day, this also means addressing constantly evolving risk models and a new set of problems to solve. It’s safe to say that software is definitely eating the world and barely has to chew.” — Tim North
