“I’m somewhat of a hybrid, living in between the worlds of digital comics and digital tv/ film/OTT/ streaming. What I see happening is consolidation, partnerships, and tons more value added to platforms in order to entice users to come to them. Check out the recent deal between Hulu & Spotify. AT&T buying Warner? Will that mean DCU, HBO, and all other WB content living under one subscription service? How do you compete with the behemoths like Netflix? You have to add value. Can’t compete on the film/tv content alone? Start adding other types of digital media to your offering. There are other companies popping up doing just this, and I think we’re going to see more and more of it. My theory is that those 300+ OTT platforms that are out there now will all buy each other out to grow their content libraries and user bases, while adding value to their offering in order to entice users to spend money on their services. It’s a crazy time right now, and there’s a lot of action!”
