You know the drill. I find the smartest, edgiest, and hopefully sexiest people I know who have the characteristics of entrepreneurship to contribute advice to The Chancebending Network. Today we’re talking to Lisa Menzel.

One Question with… Lisa Menzel

“The number 19 symbolizes fear and since its invention as a hieroglyph, it has convinced people something is ending. Years such as this have seen violent struggles and war. That said, 22 brings temporary mastery. However, heroism is not seen until 46. What’s in between? Conflict. The year 1985 was our best year in America for money supply, art, culture, film and growth, because it was a construction site of creativity. Run time and plot coincided in film until 2008 when we repeated a ’70’s cycle of muddy loglines. Home Alone acts as an annuity in sales, because its run time and plot tells us we have nothing to fear and may employ all our mischievous skills to defeat evil. Avatar was 10 minutes too short and resulted in a sort of jealous depression where audiences rewatched the film repeatedly like jilted lovers driving past a house. The audience is currently incensed about predictable plots, dialogue and whether they know or not, distressing run time. Because media takes so long to develop and deliver, films that were conceived in years that agree with their length and pacing will always be welcome and surprise us in years like this. Good comedy with skill such as Black Books will be regarded as medicinal. Novel and inviting films like Black Panther will continue to win audiences. If you are a filmmaker or writer releasing horror anytime soon like me, it will have more impact than usual. Keep in mind the audience is curating their own entertainment and education on Youtube for over ten hours a day while gigging and building history. Every story we now tell must be worth the time.”
