You know the drill. I find the smartest, edgiest, and hopefully sexiest people I know who have the characteristics of entrepreneurship to contribute advice to The Chancebending Network. Today we’re talking to Gleb Polyakov of Nylas.

One Question with…Gleb Polyakov, CEO at Nylas

“As businesses of all sizes contend with increasingly rapid cycles of disruption, technology leaders are confronted with the need to move faster and bring innovative features to market quicker in order to maintain a competitive edge.

This is especially apparent within the digitally-transformed enterprise, which is embracing a shift towards agile software development methodologies and modern DevOps practices in an effort to get the most out of their in-house teams, while continually looking outward for technology solutions to help their developers augment their core product offerings.

This shift is what’s responsible for the wild, break-away growth of companies like AWS, Twilio, Stripe, and Nylas – all of whom have posed the question to developers ‘why build everything yourself when you can leverage an API and be done with it?’

Engineering teams love solving hard problems, but that doesn’t always translate to a love for building hard things. Most developers would agree that shipping features faster and delighting their customers is preferable to constant worrying about about scaling, security, or performing ongoing maintenance. This is the truth that is driving the developer API market, and I expect that the need will only continue to grow at pace with the application economy.”
